One Sunday morning, I spotted this stylish man and his son in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris. The son is a mirror image of the father, his hands in pockets, his eyes fixed on the distant sky. Before them is a magnificent reminder of the grandeur of the French Republic.
For me, this father and son are uniquely French and therefore “foreign”–the topic of this week’s photo challenge. By taking this picture, I marked myself as “un étranger,” as the French would say. The definition means “a person from the outside.”
