Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Macro Alstroemeria

Good morning, mobile photography challengers.  For this week’s Sally D’s macro photography challenge, I am contributing a shot of the Alstroemeria (Peruvian lily) from a get-well bouquet for my husband.  Its beautiful pink blooms completely opened after a day indoors and gave us both great pleasure.

The flower can grow singly or in clusters, called umbrels–as you can see in the photo.  Not surprisingly, the word umbrel is derived from the Latin umbella meaning “parasol or sunshade.”

Alstroemeria Flower Macro.  Shot with a Samsung Galaxy S5

Technical Note:  This shot was taken with a Samsung Galaxy S5 and post processed with Photoshop and a high key Nik Filter.

    • Hi Janet. Many thanks! I’m experimenting with taking shots from different angles. Sometimes it just looks “right” and it’s so clear that’s the best angle. Other times it takes a lot of experimenting!
