WPC: Finding Harmony Amidst Strife

Logically, harmony must come from the heart… Harmony very much based on trust. As soon as use force, creates fear. Fear and trust cannot go together.–Dalai Lama
This quote by the Dalai Lama seems particularly apt this campaign season.  Are you weary like me from the hourly bombardments by our political candidates?  The mud slinging?  The juvenile insults?   Is your deepest wish for harmony between the warring factions in our world?
Since harmony is our theme this week, I am going to stop “talking” and give you a quiet moment to take a deep breath and enjoy some photos and quotes, which can “speak” for themselves.  They were shot on the beach in Hollywood, Florida, at the Van Gogh’s Bedrooms Exhibit at The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Japanese Gardens at Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

  1. I like this post… I owe you stuff on Vallabbhai Patel, which I shall send out
You want to know what harmony does not feel like? Look over at what is happening in India.
As per the Hindus, we are living in KaliYug… Kali as in darkness, not Kali the goddess.. Different pronunciations!

    • Hi Rajiv. Thanks so much! The state of the world today is painful, isn’t it? We are in the middle of the ugliest political campaign ever. It’s shocking how the candidates have debased themselves in the process of trying to get elected. So sad. I know I’m an optimistic person, but right now it’s hard to keep my chin up! I hope things improve in India too.

  2. That’s a wonderful idea! Given that I live in a condo, I think I’ll have to rely on the small tabletop version of a serenity garden. 🙂 We do look out on the river, which is calming. We walked the labyrinth in Chartres. It was wonderful!

  3. You did a wonderful job selecting photos to go with this week’s theme. Harmony with nature and all living things is my goal as I move through the world. I would love to visit the Meijer Gardens. You’ve shared other photos and it looks like a terrific place to visit.

    • Thanks, Jackie! We were just at Meijer Gardens yesterday. I do hope you come and visit. I think the best times are late spring, summer and early fall. The winters here are gray, gray, gray. I can show you around! 🙂
