This was a tough week to create a post about fun. (See below.) But in a flash, I remembered the kids of summer, who really know how to have fun. So, that’s why they totally own this week’s photo challenge. My collection was shot over several years in 4 cities in the United States.

Having fun was the last thing on my mind this week. We were getting on a plane to spend the weekend with a seriously ill friend, who is facing a number of grave health challenges. He was gaunt and thin and very weak, but he flashed a big smile when he first saw us and laughed as we shared memories of our time together over the past few decades. This loving and good man reminds us of the power and necessity of enjoying life and having fun–even as we approach the end of our time here on earth. This quote by Randy Pausch is especially apt:
Never, ever underestimate the importance of having fun.~Randy Pausch

I am one of those adults who need to be reminded to have FUN! It’s so easy to get mired in the day’s to-do list. Kids (and dogs!) are a great reminder to enjoy the day.
