All four elements were happening in equal measure – the cuisine, the wine, the service, and the overall ambience. It taught me that dining could happen at a spiritual level.~Charlie Trotter
How’s this for romantic ambience?
The RPM Italian restaurant in Chicago was a surprise for us. It’s plain exterior concealed a beautiful interior space with candlelit tables, attentive waiters and wonderful food. The ambience was just right–partly romantic, partly relaxed. The food was delicious. (Grilled swordfish for me, pasta for him.) They all contributed to the overall experience and built off each other to create a memorable moment.
What’s more important to you? The food? The ambience? Or, a little bit of both? For me, it depends on my mood, the occasion, and what I’m interested in eating. Do I care if the restaurant is luxurious if I’m eating a simple slice of pizza? Of course not. But sometimes I’m in the mood for a little treat–like this night in Chicago.
Where’s your favorite restaurant? Why is it your favorite?
All this talk about food is making me hungry. Have a great week, everyone, and enjoy some delicious food!
