The Quote Challenge–Day 1

A special thanks to Restless Jo, who has thrown down the gauntlet and challenged me to post a quote for three days in a row.  All right, Jo, here we go!

There are three classes of people: those who see, those who see when they are shown, those who do not see.~Leonardo da Vinci

Wisteria at the Villa Bardini, Florence, Italy. Shot with a Fuji XT2.

In our travels this year, we have been fortunate to see many glorious sites, including the Villa Bardini, high above the city of Florence.  This quote reminds me of the day we climbed the winding paths to the villa to view the wisteria in bloom.  Like all the visitors that day, I drank in the heavenly scent and beauty of these flowering vines.  At the same time, I was reminded of other spring days when flowers were blooming, but I barely noticed because I was in a rush and preoccupied with worries or problems.  Da Vinci’s quote reminds me of the value of taking the time to see.

The wisteria arbor at the villa is in full bloom in early May.  It draws thousands of visitors.  I was astounded by its size.  It is by far the largest arbor I have ever seen.

Here’s a closeup of these delicate flowers in full bloom.

The hours we spent at the villa were certainly a bit of paradise.

As the last step of the challenge, I’m nominating three bloggers to take the 3-Day Quote Challenge.  If you would like to join the challenge but were not nominated, please feel free to jump in.

Here are the rules of the challenge:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote on 3 consecutive days.
  • Share why this quote appeals so much to you.
  • Nominate 3 different bloggers for each day.

See you on Day 2!

  1. Fantastic sight Patti! I was there in February and all was bare. Lovely to see it in bloom. And I couldn’t possibly argue with Leonardo. Many thanks for your great response xx

    • So you were there this year! I am envious because you can travel to these amazing places so easily when you live in Europe! I am happy to join the challenge. Thanks again for inviting me. 🙂

  2. It was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream for me to see Florence. I was there in February 2017 and I still have a similar photo to yours, but without those exuberant flowers, as the background on my laptop. I really loved it. I popped back for a closer look and to tweet your post as I can’t do this so easily on my phone. 🙂 🙂
