Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #77: Favorite Photos of 2019

For our last Lens-Artists Photo Challenge of 2019, we are looking back at our year in images.  Which ones are your favorites?

For my collection, I’ve selected 8 images shot over the past year.  I’ve divided them into categories, but feel free to organize your favorites by season, type, location, or any other criteria.  Or, perhaps, use your photos to illustrate your thoughts about the past year.  The number of photos you choose and the way you display them are entirely up to you.

It’s always difficult to pick favorites.  It’s always so subjective.  That’s why I’ve included a poll at the end of my post for you to vote on my shots.  Which ones are your favorites?  I’d love to see what you think!

  1. Well that was a hard choice. I loved Florence and nearly chose that for its memories of my time living there when I was a student. In the end, I chose your photo taken in Bath. It captured the interest to be found, and our curiosity in ancient ruins so well.

    • Hi, John. Thank you! It’s hard to believe that the smart phone cameras are more powerful than my first Canon DSLRs! I’m happy with the Pixel 2, and the Samsung, but they’re always getting better and better.

  2. It’s always interesting to see how people vote, isn’t it, Patti? I truly love the Florence skyline but I voted for Bath. Something about the colours and the people looking out. I love it! 🙂 🙂 Wishing you many happy hours and good health in the year ahead.

  3. I chose your Fiji photo in the poll, but it was a tough choice. What a fun challenge for the end of the year. I really enjoyed putting together my response:https://wp.me/p2owKx-1n6
I’ll look forward to clicking through other responses.
Just to let you know for whatever reason, this post did not appear in my reader. I went looking for you of course, as I do really like this challenge. It does show that I am following you, so maybe just a one-time glitch.
    All the best for 2020!
    Cheers, Amy

  4. A beautiful selection Patti, of course not surprisingly 😊. All of your choices are wonderful but forced to choose I’d go with the majority for Bath and of course Grand Central. What a fabulous year you’ve had my friend, so glad to have shared it vicariously. Wishing you a 2020 filled with love, joy, adventure and of course more fantastic photography. So happy to have shared our Lens-Artists journey with you.

    • Thank you very much, Tina! I agree. This year has been fabulous. I am very grateful. And I wish the same for you–a fabulous year, filled with love, joy, adventure, and plenty of photo opportunities!

      • Hi Patti, Thank you for visiting my site and thank you for giving me a heads up on the comment problem. The comments were somehow disallowed on that particular post. I don’t know if it was accidental on my part or if I got WordPress-ed. In any case, I fixed it and now know to verify that all the boxes are correctly checked before publishing. A couple of days and no comments – I thought that nobody liked me anymore 😌

  5. what a collection – goes to show what a great photographer you are because you can handle so many categories. I find through my own retrospective that I favour landscapes and so will focus on this more in 2020 – voted for yours too. Happy New Year and thanks to you and all at the LAPC for hosting these prompts x

    • Hi, Laura. Thank you! I’m still learning. I find that I’m “stretching” my skills through the challenges. They encourage me to do things that I normally wouldn’t! I’m so glad we’re “nudging” you in the challenges!

      • Trip of a life time. Long story but me and my seven closest friends sailed the Southern Lau Group for 35 days, on a 95 ft wooden sailboat, called the Tau, crew of four…TWICE! We anchored off more than 20 islands!

        Magnificent experience!

        Thanks for the reminder!

  6. Thanks for your year in review, Patti. Your image from Sedona resonates with me the most, because the image is of a beautiful landscape, and when we were in the area, we decided not to drive into Sedona because of heavy snow-showers that entire day. I’m certain we wouldn’t have been able to see much, and it means there’s got to be a return visit to Arizona. 🌵🏜

    • Hi, Henry. It’s a definite must-see place. Magical. The red rocks are stunning. I’m glad my “taste” of Sedona has encouraged you to try again! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. All the best in the new year.

  7. Oh, I missed this challenge among all the festivities. Lovely photos! I voted for architecture. Must be since I’m in Tuscany. 😉

If I may, I will link to you my last post of 2019 which is also of my favourite photos, but for 2018. I’m always a year behind. I hope this is okay. My post contains two calendars with one photo per month.

  8. Hi Patti. Outstanding and diverse photographs, all of them. I especially like the ones from Bath and Sedona. You have traveled to many different places in 2019 and thanks for sharing those far-flung places with us. And thank you and the other Lens Artists for making the time and space for your creative community.

  9. Hi Patti. I stiil like the ‘culture’ photo from Bath the most, but all of your genres and all of the photos here are excellent. I don’t know how you and the other Lens Artists keep on with such great variety and with so many captures week-after-week, but I’m glad and grateful for the creative space you have created. I

I sent a submission a couple of weeks ago, but hope its ok for another.

      • You’re welcome. And thank you and the rest of the Lens Artists for continuing to make this creative space available to us. I enjoy seeing the world through your eyes, seeing places I will never travel to in real life. Starting the morning looking at stunning photography is much much preferable to reading the news of world events these days. Best, Babsje
