A warm welcome to Sylvia Bacon of My Colorful Expressions who is our guest host this week. Her chosen topic is Doors.
I love tracking down unique and unusual doors, so it was fun to pick out some of my favorites for this week’s post. Many of these doors were spotted in Florence. The red door is the exception. If you’d like to get a closer look, just click on the image to enlarge it.

A Horse at the Door.
I love how you can see the places where many hands have rubbed off the brass patina on this wonderful door knob. It’s such a creative way to welcome visitors and a useful way to open the door.

A Doctor…at the Door
On a walk a few weeks ago, I spotted this door in Santa Croce, decorated for a graduation celebration declared with so much pride. If you look closely, you can see a red sign on the door which says “Dottore” and another that says “My Graduate.”

A Heavenly Door
Although I’ve posted this photo of these massive church doors before, I couldn’t resist including them in this post. They truly dwarf all who enter.

A Quirky Door
On a walk in Massachusetts, I spotted this very quirky doorway flanked by two mannequins and topped with two horseshoes for good luck. You can also see two old TV sets in the garden and a statue of a child on a pedestal. Unique? Weird?….What do you think?

A Cow at the Door
As we were walking down a narrow street in Santa Croce, I did a double-take when I saw this doorway with a cow staring at me. It’s a wonderful optical illusion, don’t you think?
A special thanks to Sylvia Bacon for hosting LAPC #204 this week. I hope you join us and share your discoveries near and far. Be sure to link to Sylvia’s post and include the Lens-Artists tag.
A salute to Anne Sandler who hosted the Local Vistas challenge last week. I enjoyed the glimpse of your local area or special places you’ve visited nearby. Next week, it’s Tina’s turn to host LAPC #205, so be sure to visit her Travels and Trifles site to join us next Saturday at noon.
Until then, stay safe, stay well. Wishing you plenty of inspiration, too.

Hi, Tracy. I hope things are back to normal very soon. We had the same visitor at our house about 3 weeks ago. I’m happy to say “it” left. And thanks for your thoughts about the cow at the door! It’s a lot of fun.

I got back home on Wednesday evening. It was a really good visit and it was also good to get home, although I could’ve done without the temperatures around 110.

Terrific choices this week Patti! The cow “doorway” is wonderful, I loved that. I also loved the horse door pull. So sweet and I agree about the patina. The weird door and it’s accoutrements? Not so much!!! I think I’d avoid THOSE neighbors!

Hi, Tina. Yes, I’d avoid those neighbors! I can only imagine what the owners are like! I hope the weather shifted and it’s not as hot now. It’s in the 90’s in the Alps. Can you imagine??

Hi, Sofia. Isn’t that a funny one? IJ just reminded me that the owners might be making a comment about the dangers of being tall in a little house! Take care and have a good week before your well-deserved break.

Ooh, what a great set of doors! That cow mural is amazing and I love the horse door handle. But the house in Massachusetts is a real find – I could spend lots of time taking photos there, if the owner would tolerate me 🙂

Great set here. I like that reminder that tall people can lose their heads if they aren’t careful entering short doors. It has nearly happened to me many times.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh yes, IJ. You’re right! I didn’t realize that until you mentioned it! Yes, it’s dangerous, isn’t it? So the people who live there definitely have a sense of humor! Being short, I’ve never encountered that problem. 😀😀😀.

My Airbnb in Florence had a dragon/ serpent door handle. Yours reminded me of it, Patti. The mannequin door in your series wins the weird and wonderful title hands down. Great job!
